Comparison and prospect of different mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of early osteoarthritis

Abstract

Abstract:

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the common joint diseases with major pathological changes such as articular cartilage degeneration, subchondral bone remodeling, joint space narrowing and marginal osteophyte proliferation. With the continuous progress of research on OA treatment, the prospect of the stem cells has been widely recognized. Mesenchymal stem cells include bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, adipose derived stem cell, synovial mesenchymal stem cells and peripheral blood mesenchymal stem cells, umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells. Mesenchymal stem cells from different sources have their own characteristics in the treatment of osteoarthritis.
