The treatment and rehabilitation in elderly patients with proximal humeral fractures

Abstract:

The proximal humeral fracture was a common fracture in the elderly. The elder patients often have underlying diseases such as cardiopathy, diabetes or osteoporosis. The treatment options were also different from young patients and mainly depended on fracture pattern and functional demand of patients, including conservative and operative options like minimally invasive operation, open reduction and arthroplasty. An reasonable rehabilitation modal was made to consolidate the corresponding treatment, other strategies such as psychological and physical methods were either indispensable links that were necessary to improve patients' functional results. In order to further understand this type of fracture, this article discusses the treatment and rehabilitation of proximal humerus fractures in the elderly and aims to improve the treatment of proximal humerus fractures in the elderly.
