The application of polyurethane material in artificial meniscus

Abstract:

Meniscus injury is the most common sports injury. The most important treatment for meniscus injury is meniscus repair or meniscus suture. However, the outcome is not very clear. The meniscus transplantation is instructed with its sources and other issues. With the application of polymer materials such as polyurethane in orthopedics, the artificial meniscus has gradually developed. Currently, only two partial meniscus prostheses, CMI and Acifit can be used in the human body, as well as the full meniscus prosthesis NUsurface. The main material of Acifit and NUsurface is polyurethane. Therefore, this paper will make a detailed review of the application of polyurethane materials in artificial meniscus, and provide ideas for the development o f artificial meniscus.
